Meditation is not a bunch of hype as some people would claim. Oprah is a believer in meditation and her success is the result. Ask yourself, why do all Oprah’s employees meditate twice a day? If you are one of those people who need to see in order to believe, than read this article.
All Oprah’s employees meditate twice a day
And this is why Oprah is so damn awesome: She has all 400 employees at her company stop whatever they are doing in order to meditate every day.
In preparation for her next show, Oprah’s Next Chapter where she will visit a transcendental town in Iowa where one-third of its population meditates, the queen of talk–and aha moments–told Dr. Oz why meditation is so important to her.
For me at this time in my life I recognize that everything is about moving closer to that which is God. And without a full, spiritual center-and I am not talking about religion, I am talking about without understanding the fullness from which you’ve come you can’t really fulfill your supreme moment of destiny.
She went on to add:
I think that being connected to that which is greater than yourself, for me at this particular time in my life, is the most important thing and that’s what I am working on.
Apparently, this connection spurred to her connect with fellow meditators in Fairfield, Iowa, while also encouraging all of her employees to follow their lead.
There’s a traffic jam in Fairfield at 5:30 pm with mothers, and doctors, dentists and lawyers, and engineers and clerks and soccer moms all headed to the dome where this Iowa-people who look just like you and me, go there and they’re all meditating. And in order to prepare for doing that show I brought Transcendental Meditation teachers into Harpo Studios to teach me and my team how to meditate; so we started meditating.
What started with 7 employees rose to 70, then 270 and now everyone in the company meditates at 9am and 4:30pm regardless of what they are doing. It’s her way of encouraging herself and others to be still, come back to their center and realize that something is bigger than themselves and the work they are doing. The effects, she said, have been amazing:
And you can’t imagine what has happened in the company, people who used to have migraines, don’t. People are sleeping better, they are having better relationships and they are interacting with other people better. It’s been fantastic.
Wow. Imagine if every company did this. We would likely see happier people in and out of work, happier customers, better service, less stress-related health conditions and, dare I say, less road rage on the commute home. Past research has also told us that the practice of sitting still for just a few minutes a day and clearing our thoughts can help with depression, anxiety, pain, stress, insomnia and even chronic diseases.
Oprah, can I have a job?
